Mirror World SDK

All right, we're live. Welcome to another great DevNTell. DevNTell is a 30-minute window for builders to showcase something they're passionate about or have been working on in Web3. Today I'm ecstatic to have Jonathan from Mirror World here to give us a demo of the Mirror World SDK. Jonathan, maybe you'd like to start with a brief introduction about yourself?

Yeah, thank you very much, Narb. My name is Jonathan and I'd like to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to be here. I've been with Developer DAO since the time we launched. Currently, I'm the CTO at Mirror World. At Mirror World, we're building cross-platform Web3 APIs and SDKs for mobile and web dApps. I'm very excited to showcase what we can do.

Pleasure. Did you start with Mirror World since their launch or have you recently joined?

Yeah, I actually started since we launched. I think we launched around September 30, 2021. So we've just passed our one-year mark.

Gotcha. I believe that's around the same time Developer DAO started, if I'm not mistaken. That's awesome.

Yep, absolutely. Developer DAO actually got me into Web3. I did that famous Ethereum tutorial by Nader. That was the first thing I did.

Excellent. I really got deep into Web3 after joining Developer DAO. Things really accelerated once I started building together with friends. That's excellent to hear.

Absolutely, it's been really cool. I used to hop into the chat channel a lot in the good old days.

Those were the good old days. So, did you want to give a brief overview of what you'll be going over today?

Yes, definitely. Let me share my screen and let me know if you can see it. Today I'm going to be sharing about the Mirror World Smart SDK. The purpose of the SDK is to accelerate Web3 development for mobile and web.

A bit about myself: my name is Jonathan Bakebwa, originally from Uganda, now living in China. I'm the CTO at Mirror World and a computer science major. I maintain OSS, and I'm very passionate about design systems, accessibility, and Web3 (specifically Solana, EVM, and Sui).

About Mirror World: we were founded in September 2021 as a gaming company. While building games for Web3, we encountered numerous problems and built in-house solutions that we then repurposed to serve other developers. That's what inspired our SDK.

Building and using Web3 dApps and games is currently complex for both developers and users. User experience is a much higher priority for us than absolute decentralization; otherwise, if you don't have a good product, no one will use it.

Developers face challenges learning about wallets, seed phrases, transaction signing, and account serialization. End users struggle with downloading wallet extensions and navigating constant pop-ups. Our SDK alleviates these problems, allowing developers to code less and build more across multiple chains.

Mirror World stack consists of four verticals: Authentication (social logins for familiar UX), Marketplace (APIs for collections and marketplace instances), Wallet (token queries, transaction history, and an on-ramp), and Object Storage (for NFT metadata).

We recently launched client-side SDKs for Android, JavaScript, Unity, Swift, and Rust. Here's a quick demo of the login experience in our game, Mirror Jump. It's a smooth, one-click process that users find very intuitive. We also have a built-in on-ramp so users can buy tokens without leaving the game.

We also provide a marketplace API and powerful metadata APIs, allowing you to build your own storefront or completely customize the UI. Here's a demo where I minted a verified NFT on-the-go while taking a COVID test – something that is quite complex to do manually.

Currently, we're live on Solana and in development for Ethereum, with plans to launch by the end of Q1 2023. We'll then scale across Polygon, BNB Chain, Aptos, and Sui. Getting started is easy: create a developer account at app.mirrorworld.fun, generate API keys, and install the SDK.

I previously built a Solana NFT explorer as a demo. The purpose is to be able to query a mint address and get information like transaction history. Let's see if we can do that now by creating a new project in the developer dashboard.

After creating a project named 'Developer DAO', I have an API key. The dashboard shows request logs and even provides sample cURL requests. I can fetch NFT information by copying the request into my terminal. It returns comprehensive details about any NFT on Solana.

Let's try fetching a random NFT from Magic Eden. I'll take this 'Taiyo Pilots' mint address and put it into my local Next.js project. After replacing the API key in my code, I'll log in using Mirror World's social authentication.

Once logged in, I can see my wallet balance and search for NFTs by address. I'll search for my own wallet address and, as you can see, it correctly displays all the NFTs from my wallet. It also shows attributes, royalties, and previous marketplace activity for any specific NFT.

Now, let's try creating a real marketplace on Solana through the UI. I'll name it 'Dev DAO Marketplace', set a 3% fee, and choose USDC as the currency. The instance is created almost instantly, and I can verify the transaction on the Solana explorer.

Finally, I'll try to list one of my own NFTs on this new marketplace. I'll set the price at 10 USDC and approve the transaction through the Mirror World wallet. The listing is successful, and we can see the updated activity in our NFT explorer.

I'd try to buy it back with another account, but I don't think I have enough USDC right now. Hopefully, this gives you a nice overview of the Mirror World SDK's capabilities. You can find all the code, guides, and tutorials at mirrorworld.fun/developer.
